About the Band
Mattock is an Americana-rock band from Southern Maryland, formed in 2022 by two longtime collaborators with a shared passion for explorative songwriting and genre-blurring sound. Drawing from decades of musical experience, the duo crafts songs that weave together folk rock, indie, punk, and classic rock influences into something both familiar and unexpected.
Guitarist Casey Brandt cut his teeth in New York City’s legendary club scene during the early oughts performing with his band Satirius Johnson at iconic venues including CBGB and The Continental.
Drummer Jason Fletcher emerged from the DMV music scene of the 1990s and early 2000s, playing with the bands Mr. Blowfish, Anomic, and Slowburn Shift.
Brandt and Fletcher first joined forces in 2011 while performing with Crystal Brandt &The River. Years later, during the pandemic, the two reconnected and began writing new material together, channeling their shared influences into a fresh creative project.
The result was Mattock’s debut album, Songs About Birds, released in Summer 2024—a collection of raw, heartfelt songs that travel from hypnotic grooves to expansive folk-rock soundscapes. At its core, Mattock is about authentic songwriting, adventurous arrangements, and a deep love for the roots of rock and roll.
Their follow up album, Daughters, was released May 12, 2026.
